Good Problems How to Decide on Dessert

Ice cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for, well, any number of different types of frozen treats, to be honest. Ice cream is a pretty great go-to and one that many people can agree on, but there really are so many tasty desserts from which to choose. Whether you are simply trying to satisfy a sweet tooth, or trying to cool down in one of the best ways possible during the sweltering summer months, finding the frozen treat that is best for you can be quite a wonderful process.

Stocking up on sorbet or frozen yogurt supplies
If you are making your own delicious dessert, many of the necessary supplies may be the same, whether you are indulging in sorbet, frozen yogurt, ice cream, or gelato. Of course, if you are not making it, but heading to your favorite local spot, all of the necessary supplies could boil down to a few tasting spoons and the right size cups or cones. Sometimes it is difficult to narrow down which sweet treat you are in the mood for. It might be helpful for you to consider what is needed to make each one. Whether you need to collect the proper frozen yogurt supplies or decide which flavor of sorbet or gelato to get, the decision process is potentially grueling for those with a deep appreciation of many types of delicious desserts.

The difference in delicious desserts
While you could choose to go for a simple popsicle, frozen candy bar sandwich, or endless other possibilities, breaking down four main desserts might help you reach a speedier decision in the future. Perhaps you already know your preference. And maybe you are open to any and would want to think about some basics depending on your mood at the time, such as what each consists of.

    What’s in it?

  • Ice cream
Ice cream has the most ingredients, typically consisting of milk, egg yolk, sugar and cream. There are so many delicious flavors to choose from, ranging from essentially any fruit to chocolate to a nut concoction or the standard, popular vanilla. Everyone loves their ice cream, in fact during any two week period, at least 40% of Americans will have some ice cream at some point.
  • Frozen yogurt

You won’t need many frozen yogurt supplies, but the main difference between this yummy treat and ice cream is that it is made with cultured milk as opposed to cream. Frozen yogurt is often mistaken as being healthier than ice cream, but let’s be honest, it is dessert, why should we worry about how healthy it is? And popularity of frozen yogurt is on the rise, as there are over 2,500 stores across the United States, and frozen yogurt supplies are high in demand.
  • Gelato
Gelato is very similar to ice cream, although many people prefer it for the smooth texture and the fact that it may even feel a bit exotic or sophisticated to some who focus on its Italian origins. It is very similar to ice cream, as it is made with milk, sugar and egg yolk.
  • Sorbet
Sorbet is a good choice for those who can’t handle a lot of dairy, as it only contains fruit juice, syrup, and water. Unlike its creamier counterparts, there is no milk or cream in sorbet, obviously making the texture the most different of the four. However sometimes you want the cold and sweetness without that heavier feeling that milk or cream sometimes adds.

Every year, about 1.5 billion gallons of ice cream and desserts that are similar to ice cream are created in the United States. Everyone loves their cold, sweet treats, and about 90% of households in the U.S. regularly satisfy a sweet tooth in that way. And why waste time worrying about what is best for you? Those that lack the cream or dairy might have less fat but will often have a higher percentage of sugar. So quite simply, which will taste the best to you?
